UCA volleyball coach Steven McRoberts
announced five additions to the 2005 Sugar Bear squad
Wednesday.
Joing UCA are Kelly Bence (5-9, OH, Vista,
Calif.), Toni Evans (5-5, DS, Lonoke, Ark.), Tristen McNeal
(6-1, MB, Killeen, Texas), Amanda Rossman (5-10, OH, Glendale,
Ariz.), and Amy Wisdom (5-8, S, Lubbock, Texas).
"I'm very excited about this class as
a whole," McRoberts said. "I had a short timetable to
recruit, but feel as though we filled some immediate needs. We
also added some quality depth to our team. It will be a lot of
fun this fall when this group gets together with our returning
players."
Bence was the 2004 Conference player of
the year, as well as a first team All-Conference and All-Region
player for Vista High School.
Evans was a two-year All-Arkansas
selection and a three-time All-Conference honoree. She made the
All-State Tournament team in 2004 and was an Arkansas All-Star
this spring. Evans helped lead Lonoke High School to a 5AAA
title and a trip to the AAA playoffs.
McNeal averaged 2.57 kills and 0.7 blocks
per game for a 22-20 Tyler Junior College team. She was named
to the All-Region and All-Conference teams as well as the
All-Conference Tournament team.
Rossman was an All-Arizona and All-Region
selection in 2004. She made second team
All-Region in 2003.
Wisdom earned All-District and All-Texas
Academic honors at Monterey High School. She holds the school
records for assists, service aces and attack percentage. Wisdom
also has six years of club experienece.
The Sugar Bears begin their first season
under McRoberts on August 26, where they will compete at the
Missouri Southern Invitational in Joplin, Mo.
