Golfers continue to pull in accolades |

After a successful regular season on the
course, UCA golfers continue to pile up the postseason awards.
Senior Kobus Erasmus and sophomore Ryan
Lecuyer were named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine All-Academic
District VI At-Large team.
Erasmus, a senior from De Arr, South
Africa, has a 3.78 grade-point average in international trade.
Erasmus was an All-Gulf South Conference selection in 2004 and
was a two-time member of the GSC All-Academic team. He was
UCA’s top golfer this season, averaging 73.7 strokes over
23 rounds.
Erasmus led the Bears to the NCAA Division
II South Regional in 2003 and qualified as an individual for
the 2004 NCAA Regional.
Ryan Lecuyer, from Edmonton, Ontario,
posted a 75.6 scoring average for 21 rounds this season. He
helped his team place third in the GSC Championships. Lecuyer
was a member of the GSC Academic Honor Roll last season and has
a 4.0 GPA in biology.
On the women’s side Lisa Olson and
Christina Lecuyer were named to the NGCA All-American Teams,
while head coach Ryke Dismuke was named South Region Coach of
the Year.
Olson, a senior from Russellville, Ark.,
placed sixth at the NCAA Division II National Championship, and
was named to the NCGA Second Team.
Christina Lecuyer, a sophomore from
Edmonton, Alberta was selected as an Honorable Mention. Lecuyer
led the Bears with a 77.0 stroke average and won the Sam
Houston State/Waterwood Spring Classic.
Dismuke, in his fourth season as the
women’s golf head coach, was selected as the South Region
Coach of the Year for leading UCA to five straight wins,
including the inaugural Gulf South Conference Championship.
