Lady Falcons use defense to advance
TUPELO, Miss. — In control for the entire game, the No. 4 Montevallo Lady Falcons grabbed a 61-49 win over No. 5 Ouachita Baptist in the first round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament Wednesday.

Montevallo controlled the game from the tip. The Lady Falcons led 28-22 at the half, while only shooting 40.7 percent from the field. They held the Lady Tigers to even poorer shooting (36.7 percent).

Jennifer Hendricks and Shea Panter led Montevallo with 14 points each. Courtney Sheilds added 10 for the Lady Falcons.

Stephanie Grimes led the way for the Lady Tigers, scoring 16 points and Kristen Hurdle pitched in 8.

Next up for Montevallo is the No. 1 seed from the West, Central Arkansas. The Sugar Bears and Lady Falcons will get things going tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
